On Monday, violent protests erupted in the city of Baltimore following Freddie Gray's funeral.

Amidst the chaos, one mother was determined to let her rioting son know that she disapproved of his actions. Onlookers and news cameras captured the moment which has been widely discussed on social media.

Some of the twitter posts read, "Acting cool until Mom shows up!", "I have to say my family would've done the same thing this mother did", and "Mom of the Year" Baltimore mother praised for smacking rioting son ..."

After hours of riots on Monday, a state of emergency was declared in Baltimore and the National Guard was called to help restore order.

Baltimore Police also appealed to parents with an online post, "Several juveniles are part of these aggressive groups. We are asking all parents to locate their children and bring them home."

The video has gone viral as people have been applauding the mother's efforts. Many took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the matter.
