Following the devastating earthquake in Nepal, the medical staff in the country is overwhelmed and doesn't have enough resources to aid the victims.Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who traveled to Nepal to cover the earthquake story for CNN, was asked by the medical personnel in Nepal to lend a helping hand for a brain surgery on a young girl.

Gupta and the local staff had to work with equipment that wasn't optimal -- they ended up using saws instead of electric drills.

The girl is doing well after the operation, according to Gupta. He said there are numerous cases in the quake-stricken country which require urgent medical attention but the local facilities are currently unable to keep up with the current need.

Nearly 4,000 people have died as a result of the earthquake and the authorities expect the death toll to reach over 10,000.
