Tim Allen says trying not to offend people is 'like dancing on the thinnest ice'

Tim Allen says trying not to offend people with comedy these days is “like dancing on the thinnest ice.”

“You don’t know what you’re going to say to offend people,” Allen said Thursday while promoting his recently resurrected sitcom, "Last Man Standing," at a PaleyFest panel in California, per Fox News.

According to the outlet, he said that in the three decades he’s been a comic, “there’s nothing more dangerous right now for all of the comics I know, what we can and cannot say.”

That’s chafes for Allen, who said he brings his distaste for being told what he can and cannot say into his show’s writer’s room.

He went on to claim that comedians are “basically anarchists,” echoing his comments in a recent Entertainment Weekly piece, in which he said, “Politically I’m kind of an anarchist if you see my stand-up.”

The interviewer noted that Allen endorsed John Kasich for the 2016 election, not President Trump.

“My political party is that I’ve never liked taxes, period, so whatever that means," Allen explained of his endorsement. "I don’t like paying people who never seem to do what I would do with my money.”

As for Trump himself, he told EW the Trump he met at a charity event years ago doesn’t “fit with the man who tweets,” but said, “my perception is ‘let’s see what he gets done.’ Let’s stop banging on the pilot’s door and trying to pull the guy out of his seat while he’s still flying. You might not like how he’s flying the plane but let’s let him land it.”
