Pink Cloud In Arizona Early Morning Sky Spurs Chatter

People in some areas of Arizona awoke to the presence of a strange pink cloud hovering in the sky, a sighting that spurred a lot of chatter.

Over the years, people have gotten fairly used to seeing white flashes barrel through the atmosphere, particularly those caused by meteorites.

Catching a glimpse of a pink cloud hovering in the early morning Arizona skyon Wednesday, however, left many individuals a bit confounded.

Theories about what it could possibly have been quickly populated social media.

Some simply expressed general confusion while others said they thought it could be related to a rocket launch in the area. There was also talk of aliens.

Both NASA and the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico soon stepped in to clear up the mystery.

It turns out that the cloud was, in fact, caused by a projectile making its way to space.

While traveling, away from Earth the test rocket, which will be used to examine ionization, released vapor.

When the sun began to rise it illuminated the deposits and they showed up as being pink.

That such a thing could happen was mentioned in advance of the launch, but not specifically for the Arizona areas affected.
