20-year-old model was fired from a fashion show because she was 'too big'

Though she's only 20-years-old, Ulrikke Hoyer is a seasoned veteran in the fashion world. The Danish model boasts a long resume of shows and different fashion projects. She's walked for big name designers like Chloè, Marchesa, Stella McCartney and Elie Saab, and posed magazines like Elle and Vogue.

However, she was sent home from her most recent project, in Japan, for being "too big" -- and Hoyer's story is now going viral. In a recent Facebook post, the young model reveals the dark and "anything but glamorous" side of modeling.

Hoyer, who is represented by a slew of different agencies, detailed how she prepped after being cast for the Louis Vuitton Cruise Show in Kyoto. Agents and casting agents would take her measurements at many different fittings. One even came over to ensure that Hoyer had not been eating.

In the end, she was sent home before her last fitting.

She discussed the harsh realities of modeling -- "the unattainable" standards that frequently results in sickness, eating disorders, malnutrition and so on. Young women are "scarred" and damaged.

"I don't even understand how they even walk or talk. It's so obvious that these girls are in desperate need of help. It's funny how you can be 0,5 or 1 cm 'too big' but never 1-6 cm 'too small,'" she wrote.
