Megyn Kelly to travel to Russia to interview Vladimir Putin for new NBC show

Megyn Kelly will reportedly travel to Russia in June to interview Russian president Vladimir Putin for NBC News.

According to Page Six, the former FOX News personality landed the highly-coveted interview this month after NBC News chief Andy Lack traveled to Russia to meet with officials close to Putin. Kelly will moderate a session at the annual St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which is happening from June 1-3.

The report comes just a couple weeks after insiders revealed to Page Six that NBC News was trying to set up the interview. At the time, people close to the situation were calling it the "biggest get on the planet," though they weren't sure if it was going to go to Kelly, or one of NBC's other big stars like Matt Lauer or Lester Holt.

"This is a great way for Megyn to get an inside track and land the big one on one interview with President Putin," an insider told Page Six this week.

The news comes the week after Kelly was spotted on set with the Kardashian family, who are rumored to be another one of her major first interviews as she gears up for her NBC News debut. As revealed earlier this year, Kelly will host a daily morning show for NBC, as well as a Sunday night news program.

On Monday, reports surfaced that Kelly's morning show will air in the 9 a.m. hour -- pitting her directly against Kelly Ripa's popular "Live!," which will now be co-hosted by Ryan Seacrest. Kelly's "inspirational" morning talk show is replacing the "Today" show's 9 a.m. hour, which had been co-anchored by Tamron Hall and Al Roker until earlier this year. Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee will remain in their 10 a.m slot.

Kelly's Sunday night news program is rumored to be premiering in June, while her morning show won't hit the air until September.
