It was the divorce that rocked the world!

Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, and it came as a literal shock to most people who felt that the duo were the gold-standard for Hollywood pairs.

Here's a couple quick facts you may or may not know:

1) Brad Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston longer than he was married to Angelina Jolie: Sure, Angie and Brad have been a couple since 2005 (perhaps before if you believe the rumors), making their relationship at least 11 years long, but they didn't say "I do" until August 23, 2014. The pair married at the french abode, Chateau Miraval in a private ceremony with their children. They've only been spouses for 2 years compared to his marriage to Jennifer Aniston. He and the "Friends" star were married on July 29, 2000, and officially divorced on October 2, 2005, making their marriage 5 years long.

2) Wild number of properties they own: The duo share a sprawling French estate Chateau Miraval, located in a village called Brignol, near Aix-en-Provence. The estate is estimated to be worth upwards of $60 million and sits on 1,000 acres. They also own a vineyard in Italy called Villa Costanza, which is worth $41 million, a $16 million home in West London and a $5.65 million mansion in New Orleans' French Quarter. Pitt has been trying to unload that property for quite some time. In addition, Pitt also owns a home in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, which was his home from his marriage to Aniston. They later brought the properties next door to expand their compound to make it child-friendly.

3) Angelina says their son Maddox made them a couple: The Oscar-winning actress told Vogue Magazine in 2006 that it wasn't until her son, Maddox, now 15, helped them realize they'd be a couple. "One day, Maddox "just out of the blue called him Dad," Jolie said. "It was amazing. We were playing with cars on the floor of a hotel room, and we both heard it and didn't say anything and just looked at each other. So that was probably the most defining moment, when he decided that we would all be a family."

4) Their collective fortune is estimated at... $400 million. Brad Pitt's net worth is estimated at $240 million while Angelina Jolie's fortune is estimated at $160 million.

5) Angelina and Brad both said he never cheated on Jennifer Aniston: After a couple of hot months shooting, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," the pair eventually realized they wanted to be a couple, but Angelina said that was never her intention. "We were both living, I suppose, very full lives. ... I think we were the last two people who were looking for a relationship," Jolie said to Vogue. "It took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we'd earlier allowed ourselves to believe. And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration."

6) Between the two of them, they have 6 kids: The couple's six kids include Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara 11, Shiloh, 10, and Knox and Vivienne, their 8-year-old twins. Shiloh and their twins are their biological children.

7) Their joint projects include charities and wine: The duo started the Jolie-Pitt Foundation in 2006 to assist with humanitarian crises around the world. They also produce wine from the grapes on their French estate with the Chateau Miraval being extremely popular now that it is widely released.

8) They got help from their kids when they got hitched: When the pair finally got married, it was their kiddos who helped the process along. Their children helped them write the vows for their ceremony, Jolie said in Vanity Fair. "They did not expect us never to fight, but they made us promise to always say, 'Sorry,' if we do. So they said, 'Do you?,' and we said, 'We do!'"

9) Brad stood by her during her 2013 health scare: Jolie famously underwent a preventative double mastectomy after she found out she carried the BRCA1 gene. Her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died from breast cancer in 2007, and Jolie said she didn't want the possibility over her head. She also went through early menopause and had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. At the time, Pitt said of his wife on the "Today" show, "It was just another one of those things in life that makes you tighter, and she was doing it for the kids, and she was doing it for her family so we could be together."
