LA County Accepting Applications for Senior Housing
Units are available in Long Beach, West Hollywood and Marina del Rey, amongst others.
Los Angeles County is accepting applications for senior-only public housing for the first time since July 2011.
From now through midnight on Dec. 31, residents may add their names to waiting lists for nine available properties.
Eligible seniors can opt to register for one or all of the waiting lists. Priority will be given to veterans and to those who live in unincorporated areas of the county and 62 cities participating in the senior housing program.

The properties with units available are in Long Beach, East Los Angeles, La Puente, Whittier, West Hollywood, Marina del Rey, Valencia, La Crescenta and South Los Angeles. All prohibit smoking in the apartments and on the grounds, except for the South Bay Gardens development, which has a designated smoking area.
Anyone who decides against accepting a unit when it is offered will have their name removed from all other waiting lists, and they will need to re- register if interested.
