DeKalb Ethics Board Proposes Hiring Contracted Workers

The board has $90,000 in its budget to hire staffers, but members don't want full-time employees.

The DeKalb County Board of Ethics has a high need for workers with over 20 complaints pending.

The board has $90,000 which can allow members to hire new workers. Interim DeKalb County CEO Lee May, who pushed for the extra money, proposed hiring three full-time staff members, according to WABE. But the Ethics Board proposed hiring contracted workers instead.

“Right now we’re at a very high watermark in terms of need,” Ethics Board Chair John Ernst said, according to WABE. “In the future, we may not need as much resources, and we don’t want to just create legacy positions for DeKalb County.”
