DeKalb Iraq Vet Jumps Out 3-Story Window to Evade Gunman

The victim didn't have much time to question his leap, telling sources the armed robber was at point blank range.

A U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq jumped out of his three-story bedroom window to escape a shot fired by one of two gunmen about to rob his home in DeKalb County.

According to a report from WSB-TV, armed robbers kicked down the door to the victim’s condo on the third floor of a residential building off Fairington Club Drive on Oct. 19 at 2 a.m.

Hiding outside after jumping, the victim walked away with only a dislocated toe and deep cuts on his feet, police told the news station.

The victim said he was thankful his two young children and his pregnant wife were not home for the attack, and declined to release his personal information in the interest of his family’s safety.

The Dekalb County Police Department is still investigating the robbery. The culprits fled the premises by car and stole cell phones and a TV.
