Two men are charged with robbing at man near East Trinity Place and North McDonough Street.

A man was robbed near the corner of East Trinity Place and North McDonough Street by two men who reportedly beat him and fled to the MARTA station in an unsuccessful attempt to get out of town.

Decatur Police said in a release that the victim was walking in the area about 1 a.m. Monday when two men approached him from behind. One of the suspects punched him and told him to give up his book bag, while the second man hit the victim and demanded the backpack.

Police say the victim gave his backpack to the suspects, who fled east toward Church Street. Inside the backpack were the victim’s phone, wallet and cash.
