Lightweight Champion Boxer Edner Cherry Partners with Jordan's Corner

Chicago, Illinois – Lightweight Champion Boxer Edner Cherry is taking another shot in the boxing ring this Saturday in hopes of another world title. However, the world title isn’t the only thing that “Cherry Bomb” will be fighting for. He will also be raising awareness for Jordan’s Corner; a fitness and boxing group that works with special needs children and teen-agers. The Jordan’s Corner mission is to positively affect special needs children through boxing and fitness classes that promote health and wellness, consistent through a set schedule of activities, adult and peer interaction and socialization, and positivity through affirmations and mantras.

The program was inspired by an amazing young boy, Jordan Falcon, from Highland Park, IL. Jordan’s older brother, former NFL player and Falcon Boxing Gym owner, Daniel Falcon, started the boxing and fitness program to help Jordan and other special needs children improve their confidence and self-esteem. Two years ago, Cherry met Jordan in Chicago while training for a fight and the two of them connected and became close friends. Cherry has a daughter with cerebral palsy, so he is aware of the many challenges that children and parents face. This also led Cherry to visit the Saturday afternoon Jordan’s Corner classes and he quickly bonded with the children.

“Jordan is a great kid and Jordan’s Corner is an important program that brings a lot of joy to families. I plan on using boxing as a platform to let more people know about Jordan’s Corner and that there are effective, nonconventional ways to help children with special needs,” explains Cherry. Jordan’s Corner is structured as an Illinois Not for Profit Foundation with a 501c3 status. More information is available on the website - www.jordanscorner.org.
