One Direction Releases Surprise First Single as a Foursome

One Direction has set a new Spotify record for one-day streams. The group's first Zayn-less song, "Drag Me Down," was played 4.75 million times global on Friday July 31, breaking a milestone previously set by Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again," which was streamed 4.26 million times on April 17.

According to Spotify, "Drag Me Down" is also the first track ever to hit No. 1 on the the Spotify Global Chart on its first day of release. Calvin Harris' "Blame" — which reached the top in two days — previously held that record. (It probably helped that nearly 1.2 million One Direction fans worldwide listen to the song on its first day.)
