Benefit Concert for Project Gaia, November 2, 2014

A musical event to entertain and inform ...

WHITE PLAINS. In collaboration with Project Gaia, First Baptist Church of White Plains will present a chamber music concert to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives in the developing world. Proceeds from the concert will be donated to Project Gaia. The concert takes place on Sunday, November 2, at 5pm, at First Baptist Church of White Plains, 456 North Street.

Project Gaia ( https://projectgaia.com) is a U.S. based non-profit. The organization promotes clean, safe and efficient cookstoves which use alcohol fuels. Project Gaia works in countries around the globe, wherever people struggle to cook their meals. A Project representative will be available at the concert to answer questions, and there will be an opportunity to actually purchase a stove to be sent to a designated family.

Musicians Kate Goddard (violin), Colin Stokes (cello) and John A. Wolfe (organ) will play works by Bach and Reinberger. Last year Mr. Wolfe, music director at First Baptist Church, presented more than one hundred public performances throughout New York City. Mr. Stokes, a graduate with honors and awards from Eastman and Juilliard, has worked with Yo-Yo Ma and James Taylor, among others, and is now a graduate student at the Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Goddard has shared the stage with Wu Man and David Amram. She recently performed at Avery Fisher Hall and Symphony Space, and is equally at home in the worlds of jazz, contemporary, and Baroque music.
