Chevrolet truck and SUV customs emphasize light weight and heavy style [w/video]

Chevy's SEMA truck and SUV fleet includes three Silverados, three Colorados, a Suburban and a Tahoe.

Alongside its crosstown rival, Ford, Chevrolet has stocked the 2014 SEMA show with a huge swath of pickups and SUVs, as evidenced by the Bowtie's sprawling Las Vegas display, which includes three Silverado pickups, three new Colorado mid-size trucks and an upgraded pair of SUVs, in the form of the Suburban and Tahoe.
Let's start with the big bruisers. First, we have the Silverado Toughnology Concept, which was actually unveiled at the end of September. Based on the 5.3-liter Silverado LTZ, the Toughnology concept swaps out over two-thirds of the standard model's carbon steel and replaces it with high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel, which Chevy claims is 30-percent lighter. Aside from the lightweight construction, Chevy has fitted a concept-worthy paint and decal job, along with 22-inch wheels, a new intake, exhaust and upgraded brakes.

Chevrolet teamed with Polaris for its next truck, the Silverado Polaris ACE+ Concept. Based on the Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, the SEMA concept uses the same 5.3-liter V8 as the Toughnology, and is also augmented by a new intake and exhaust system. Aside from that, the Silverado Polaris ACE+ boasts 33-inch tires and 22-inch aluminum wheels, which come from Chevy's accessories catalog. In the truck bed – which features a spray-in bedliner and LED lighting – sits Polaris' ACE ATV, which shares its paint scheme with the pickup it's riding in.

The last Silverado on the docket is the High Desert Concept. Finished in Deepwood Green with Oxide Gold and Russet accents, the High Country-derived truck adds a new grille with chrome bars, a body color front and rear bumpers and a new, lockable storage system in the bed. The standard 6.2-liter V8 gets the typical boost provided by a new intake and exhaust system, while Brembo six-piston calipers and huge, 16-inch slotted rotors can bring affairs to a halt. The High Desert's 22-inch aluminum wheels, available from your Chevy dealer, match the exterior's accent colors.

Turning to the Suburban and Tahoe Premium Outdoors Concepts, we have Chevy's attempt at classing up its biggest SUVs. First and foremost, the Suburban ditched its standard 5.3-liter V8 for the Silverado's 6.2-liter engine and fitted a Borla side-exit exhaust. The Tahoe retains its standard engine, but adds the same Borla exhaust. Both trucks have been fitted with same monstrous brakes from the High Desert Concept and ride on 22-inch wheels from Chevy's accessories catalog. The Tahoe features Black Ice paint with Cool Tinted accents, while the Suburban is finished in Pepperdust paint with Warm Tarnished accents.

Now, onto the babies of the group. The first Colorado, the Performance Concept, has input from motorcross ace Ricky Carmichael. Identifiable by its eye-catching matte gray paint and bright yellow accents, the Colorado Performance Concept features stylish 17-inch wheels, while a sport bar oversees affairs in the truck's bed. An upgraded exhaust helps the 3.6-liter V6 breathe.

The orange-and-black Colorado, which as you can see comes attached with a 21-foot boat, draws inspiration from the boat manufacturer Nautique. There's not a whole lot about this one, aside from the two-tone, metal-flake paint job and 18-inch wheels from the Chevy accessories catalog.

Finally, we have the Colorado Sport Concept, which originally made its debut at the State Fair of Texas. The truck itself isn't particularly sporty, but it does make sporting pursuits quite a bit easier, featuring Chevy's GearOn storage system and a rack over the bed that accommodates a pair of mountain bikes. Other accessory items include step rails, splash guards and prototype wheels that could, eventually, arrive as an accessory.

We've racked up all the press releases and stock photo galleries of Chevy's SEMA truck and pickup fleet, and added them below, along with a video of Ricky Carmichael's creation and a video showing the crazy dirtbiker jumping alongside the truck. You can also take a peak at our live gallery at the top of the page.

'Toughnology' Concept Shows Silverado's Built-In Strength
High-strength steel body structure supports capability, reduces weight, cost

DALLAS - High-strength steel makes the Chevrolet Silverado lighter, stronger and more efficient than the conventional carbon steel used in most vehicles. Those attributes are highlighted in the simulated raw steel appearance of the new Silverado Toughnology concept.

The concept is also a showcase for Silverado's connectivity technologies – including all-new OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot – as well as accessories and performance parts available through Chevrolet dealers.

"The technology of advanced high-strength steel makes the Chevrolet Silverado stronger, lighter, more capable and more efficient – and that's exactly what the Toughnology concept represents," said Jeff Luke, executive chief engineer. "During the Silverado's development, we evaluated all materials and chose those that would provide the best strength to support capability while still delivering a strong value to customers.

"High-strength steel had clear advantages and is a contributor to the overall package that made Silverado the 2014 North American Truck of the Year."

High-strength steel, which is pressed while still in molten form, can be up to 30 percent lighter than carbon steel with the same strength. It offers significant mass savings at a lower cost than aluminum, which helps keep down the overall vehicle cost. Lower weight translates to greater efficiency and capability for truck owners.

The 2015 Silverado 1500 with the EcotTec3 5.3L V-8 engine is EPA-estimated at 23 mpg on the highway and offers a maximum trailering capacity of 11,200 pounds, per newly adopted SAE J2807 Recommended Practices. With the available 6.2L V-8 engine and all-new eight-speed automatic transmission, the Silverado's trailering capacity increases to 12,000 pounds.

The Silverado Toughnology concept wears most of its high-strength steel under the skin, just like every production model. Approximately 67 percent of each Silverado cab is constructed of the durable material, including stronger ultra-high-strength steel. It is used in the A-pillars, B-pillars, rockers and roof rails, as well strategic sections on the interior structure. Ultra-high-strength steel is used in areas of the rocker panels and underbody to help improve performance in crashes.

The 2015 Silverado 1500 crew cab model earned a 5-Star Safety Rating – the highest rating – in government crash testing.

Lightweight strength extends to the Silverado's pickup box, where the floor is made of roll-formed steel. It's more durable than the conventional stamped steel used by other manufacturers and it's lighter than the material used for stamped parts, further reducing vehicle weight.

The Silverado also strategically uses aluminum, including the hood, which saves 17 pounds over a conventional stamped steel hood.

"We put the best materials to use where they'll do the most good," said Luke. "Every panel, inside and out, is designed to support the Silverado's capability and carry on its position as America's most dependable, longest-lasting truck."

Concept features

The Toughnology concept is striking for its stripped-down appearance. The paint job mimics the look of raw, unpainted steel and is accented with compound structure formula graphics. The hood – the only visible metal exterior component that isn't steel – is painted black.

Additional black and chrome exterior accents complement the raw steel appearance, along with Chevrolet Accessory 22-inch wheels mounted on off-road tires. The special content includes:

Chevrolet Accessories grille insert
Tubular assist steps
Soft, folding tonneau cover
Washable carpet bedliner
Fender flares
Tinted headlamp lenses.
Performance capability upgrades include a performance exhaust system and upgraded performance brakes. Under the hood is a performance air intake system on its 5.3L engine rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.

Inside, the Silverado Toughnology wears LTZ trim, including heated, leather-appointed bucket seats. It also features the available rear-seat entertainment system and Silverado's latest connectivity features, including OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and a wireless phone-charging mat that recharges phones via a magnetic inductive charge.

The available OnStar with 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi hotspot provides a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected. The hotspot is on whenever the vehicle is on and comes with a three-month/three-gigabyte data trial (whichever comes first). 4G LTE is the most current and fastest mobile data network – 10 times faster than 3G and 100 times faster than OnStar's previous generation hardware.

Silverado Polaris ACE+ Concept Ready for the Trail
Outdoor recreation-themed concept paired with innovative off-road vehicle
2014-11-03

LAS VEGAS – The Chevrolet Silverado Polaris ACE+ concept shows that while Chevy's full-size truck was designed for work, it also works hard to enable recreational interests. The outdoors-themed concept debuts at the SEMA Show this week and is paired with the new Polaris® ACE™ – a revolutionary single-seat, sit-in off-road vehicle launched earlier this year.

The concept truck is based on the production 2015 Silverado 1500 crew cab with a 6-foot-6-inch cargo bed and the Z71 Off-Road package.

"The Silverado is designed to work hard for its owner, on or off the clock," said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet truck marketing. "Pairing it with the new Polaris ACE perfectly illustrates how the Silverado easily changes its support role when it's time to leave the job site for the trail head."

Blending production accessories available through Chevrolet dealers and concept components under evaluation for future production, the Silverado Polaris ACE+ concept conveys the ruggedness of today's outdoorsmen. Its ready-for-anything stance is driven by large, 33-inch–by-12.5-inch off-road tires mounted on Chevrolet Accessories 22-inch aluminum wheels, while concept fender flares enhance the truck's broad-shouldered appearance.

Additional exterior features include a concept bed-mounted sports bar with custom LED lighting and a concept front nudge bar. The cargo bed also features the available, spray-on bedliner – with the Chevy bowtie logo – that's offered on all Silverado models for 2015. A black exterior, with blacked-out trim, is accented with graphics coordinated with the Polaris ACE.

Inside, the concept truck features leather-trimmed seating and the latest connectivity features offered across the Silverado lineup, including MyLink enhancements with Text Messaging Alerts, Siri Eyes Free and new, available OnStar with 4G LTE and standard built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. It provides a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected (includes a three-month/three-gigabyte data trial) – a particularly helpful feature out on the trail.

Under the hood, the Silverado Polaris ACE+ concept sports the EcoTec3 5.3L V-8, which features direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) to help generate 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine's advanced technologies also enable an EPA-estimated 23 mpg on the highway (2WD models), giving Silverado the best V-8 highway efficiency in the segment.

Engine performance is enhanced with concept air-induction and exhaust systems, while braking performance is enhanced with a concept Brembo brake package featuring large, 16-inch slotted front rotors matched with six-piston calipers and high-performance brake pads.

The concept and performance components don't alter the capability of the Silverado, which includes a maximum payload capacity of 2,100 pounds for crew cab/6-foot-by-6-inch box configurations with the 5.3L engine and 4WD – and a trailering capacity of 10,800 pounds.

When equipped with the available 6.2L engine and Max Trailering Package, the maximum trailering capability for the 2015 Silverado 1500 increases to 12,000 pounds.

Chevrolet Strong on Full-Size Trucks, SUVs at SEMA
Luxuriously appointed concepts take capable, connected vehicles in new directions
2014-11-03

LAS VEGAS – Chevrolet's family of full-size trucks and SUVs has been completely redesigned in the past two years, offering customers smarter vehicles that deliver greater capability, efficiency and connectivity.

The Silverado, from the family of the most dependable, longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road, was named the 2014 North American Truck of the Year and in September had its best month of retail sales since 2008 – overall sales up 54 percent. Sales of the redesigned 2015 Tahoe and Suburban were up 14.5 percent collectively for the first nine months of the year.

"Chevrolet is making great strides with the Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban," said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet truck marketing. "From new and innovative features such as OnStar 4G LTE with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and the CornerStep rear bumper, to traditional Chevrolet truck features such as an automatic locking differential, Chevy trucks deliver uncompromising combinations of capability and convenience that are resonating with customers everywhere."

Chevrolet celebrates its popular full-size trucks and SUVs at this week's SEMA Show with a trio of concepts that blend custom details and accessories available through Chevrolet dealers. These concepts take the Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban to higher levels of style while enhancing the capability customers expect from Chevy trucks and SUVs.

Silverado High Desert concept

Based on the Silverado High Country crew cab and featuring a flexible, lockable concept storage system in the cargo bed, the High Desert concept is designed take passengers nearly anywhere with their gear stowed securely and safely and protected from the elements.

The Silverado High Country production model is distinguished by a unique chrome grille with horizontal chrome bars, halogen projector headlamps and body-color front and rear bumpers. Inside, it features an exclusive saddle brown interior, along with heated and cooled perforated premium leather front bucket seats with High Country logos on the headrests, Chevrolet MyLink connectivity with an eight-inch touch screen, Bose® premium audio and front and rear park assist.

Designers built on the High Country's high style with the High Desert concept, adding Oxide Gold and Russet accents to the Deepwood Green exterior color, along with dark-tinted wood accents on the interior. Chevrolet also changed the standard chrome door handles and mirror caps to body color and added a custom grille insert. In addition to the concept cargo storage system, there is a stylized sport bar mounted in the bed, with an integrated, high-mounted stop lamp and LED cargo bed lighting.

The truck's capability was bolstered with a concept performance exhaust system and concept Brembo six-piston front brake calipers, performance brake pads and 16-inch slotted rotors. The High Desert concept rolls on Chevrolet Accessories 22-inch aluminum wheels accented with Oxide Gold and Russet accents that complement the exterior color accents.

The High Desert concept is powered by the Silverado's available EcoTec3 6.2L V-8, which is SAE-certified at 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful engine offered in a light-duty truck. It's backed by the new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission – a combination that enables a 12,000-pound trailering capacity when equipped with the NHT Max Trailering Package.

Tahoe Premium Outdoors concept

Whether it's a night on the town or weekend getaway in the mountains, the Tahoe Premium Outdoors concept is designed to deliver its occupants with uncompromising capability and comfort. It builds on the well-appointed 2015 Tahoe LTZ 4WD production model with greater exterior distinction and a higher level of interior luxury.

The exterior is finished in a unique Black Ice color with Cool Tinted accents, as well as body-color door handles and front fascia. A concept grille insert adds a customized flair to the Tahoe's appearance, along with Chevrolet Accessories 22-inch aluminum wheels accented to complement the body color. It also features retractable running boards.

Inside, the Premium Outdoors concept wears leather-trimmed black and Saddle-colored appointments, with contrasting Petrol Blue piping. Cool Tinted accents carry the exterior's color theme in the cabin, while a suede-trimmed headliner and contemporary loop-carpet floor mats lend a decidedly luxurious aura to it. The interior also features Chevrolet Accessories illuminated sill plates.

As with the production 2015 Tahoe LTZ, the concept is equipped with wireless phone charging, hands-free liftgate operation and OnStar with 4G LTE and standard built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.

Power comes from the EcoTec3 5.3L V-8 with direct injection, continuously variable valve time and Active Fuel Management. It's rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. A Borla exhaust system with a chrome, side-exit exhaust tip – available from Chevrolet Accessories – enhances the performance sound of the powerful V-8 engine.

The Tahoe Premium Outdoors concept also wears concept Brembo six-piston front brake calipers with performance brake pads and 16-inch slotted rotors.

Suburban Premium Outdoors concept

Like the Tahoe concept, the Suburban Premium Outdoors concept takes a more luxurious approach to capability and injects a dose of high performance into the mix, with the 6.2L V-8 engine offered in the Silverado lineup.

The production Suburban's standard engine is the EcoTec3 5.3L V-8, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque, but the larger-displacement 6.2L, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft., gives the Premium Outdoors concept an 18-percent increase in horsepower and a 20-percent boost in torque. The Borla exhaust system and chrome, side-exit exhaust tip from Chevrolet Accessories announces the new engine with authority.

And like the Tahoe concept, the Suburban Premium Outdoors concepts wears concept Brembo six-piston front brake calipers with performance brake pads and 16-inch slotted rotors.

The bold exterior features a Pepperdust color with Warm Tarnished accents, along with body-colored door handles and front fascia in place of the standard chrome components. There's also a concept grille insert, retractable running boards and Chevrolet Accessories 22-inch wheels with body-color accents.

A leather-trimmed Saddle and Cocoa-colored cabin with Mustard piping gives the Suburban's interior a unique ambience that's complemented with Warm Tarnished trim accents, a suede-trimmed headliner and plush, contemporary loop-carpet floor mats. It also features Chevrolet Accessories illuminated sill plates.

And while the more powerful Suburban Premium Outdoors concept is designed to take its passengers just about anywhere, it's also well-equipped to stay put during big games, with a concept tailgating package in the cargo area that includes a big-screen, smart HDTV, along with a handcrafted table and benches made of wood salvaged from deconstructed Detroit homes. Hot dogs and potato salad sold separately.

Chevy Colorado Performance Concept Enables Adventure
Ricky Carmichael helps develop package to demonstrate cargo capability, flexibility
2014-11-03

LAS VEGAS – Motocross legend Ricky Carmichael has the perfect go-anywhere transporter in the all-new Chevrolet Colorado for his motorcycle, mountain bike and the gear that goes with them.

Carmichael teamed with Chevrolet to develop the Colorado Performance concept to illustrate the lifestyle-supporting capability of Chevy's new midsize pickup truck. It debuts this week at the SEMA Show, the world's largest trade show of automotive performance and personalization.

"Where I take my bikes, a full-size truck isn't always the best solution, so a maneuverable midsize truck like the Colorado is just the ticket," said Carmichael. "Besides a cargo bed that's not only large enough to haul a motocross bike and a mountain bike, the Colorado has the power to confidently take them where the pavement ends."

Carmichael consulted with Chevrolet on the unique concept equipment to facilitate the bikes' mounting in the Colorado crew cab's 6' 2" cargo bed, which allows hauling of items up to eight feet long with the tailgate down. A concept tailgate extender helps secure the bikes, while the Colorado's standard CornerStep rear bumper makes it easier to step up and reach into the bed to tighten hold-down straps or retrieve other gear.

The concept mounting features on Carmichael's Colorado were developed with the same eye on integrated functionality that's offered in production accessories available today for Colorado customers – including the patent-pending GearOn™ system. It's designed to hold larger items such as bikes, boards and kayaks above the bed, leaving room for smaller gear such as tents and sleeping bags in the bed. It can even accommodate 4 x 8-foot sheets of plywood above the wheelhouses.

Customers can have the accessories installed when they purchase their new truck, so they are ready at the time of vehicle delivery. In fact, they can even roll their cost, including any installation charges, into the monthly payments for the Colorado, and carry a warranty backed by General Motors.

With his motorcycle and mountain bike safely mounted, Carmichael and Chevrolet designers turned their attention to the Colorado's exterior and interior to give it a one-of-a-kind appearance reflecting the hall-of-fame racer's competitive spirit.

The truck was given a unique matte gray exterior color accented with high-gloss silver and yellow accents – and a graphic of Carmichael's signature. The production 17-inch Z71 aluminum wheels were accented with yellow highlights and wrapped in Goodyear Duratec off-road tires. A concept sport bar was also added to the bed.

Yellow accents were added to the interior, along with Carmichael's racing number 4 embroidered into the front seat headrests. Like the production Colorado, Carmichael's concept version is well connected via Chevy MyLink with a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. There's also a standard rearview camera system that's helpful when backing up with tall cargo, such as a motorcycle.

And when it comes to the power Carmichael appreciates, the Colorado delivers the segment's most powerful and efficient engine: an available 3.6L V-6 rated at 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque – and 26 mpg on the highway (2WD models), according to EPA estimates. The concept vehicle features a concept performance exhaust system.

That power supports segment-leading capabilities, too, including a 7,000-pound maximum trailering capacity with available heavy-duty trailering package, and a maximum payload capacity of 1,590 pounds.

"The Colorado does everything I want in a pickup truck," said Carmichael. "It simply does it in a smaller package that fits the lifestyle of a lot of people like me."

New 2015 Chevy Colorado Designed for Active Lifestyles
Concept combo pairs custom Colorado crew cab with Nautique boat, trailer
2014-11-03

LAS VEGAS – Chevrolet demonstrated the versatility and capability of the all-new Colorado midsize pickup at the SEMA Show today, pairing it with the Super Air Nautique 210 – one of the industry's most iconic wakeboard boats, which can generate a wake strong enough for wakeboarding at lower speeds.

The concept Colorado crew cab, Nautique boat and its trailer share the same custom orange metallic flake paint scheme, while the truck and trailer wear matching 18-inch Chevrolet accessory wheels. With a dry weight of 4,200 pounds for the 21-foot boat and an estimated trailer weight of 1,000 pounds, the combination is well within the capability of Colorado's segment-leading 7,000-pound maximum trailering rating.

"You can't own a lifestyle product like the Super Air Nautique without the assurance of a strong, confidence-inspiring truck to haul it to your favorite lake," said John Fitzpatrick, senior marketing manager, Chevrolet trucks. "The Colorado rewrites the book for midsize trucks, delivering unprecedented performance and capability for people who need the versatility of a truck in a smaller package than a full-size pickup."

Completely redesigned, the Super Air Nautique 210 incorporates new technology and design features resulting in the look and performance customers expect from Nautique. The sleek and powerful Super Air Nautique 210 is powered by the ZR 450 by Pleasurecraft Marine Engine Group.

Colorado trailering capability is enabled by the segment's most powerful and efficient engine: an available 3.6L V-6 rated at 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque – and 26 mpg on the highway (2WD models), according to EPA estimates. In fact, the V-6-equipped Colorado produces 14 percent more horsepower than Nissan Frontier's V-6 (262 horsepower), while delivering 15 percent greater efficiency than its EPA-estimated 22 mpg. It also produces nearly 23 percent more power than Toyota Tacoma's V-6 (236 horsepower) and nearly 20 percent greater highway efficiency (21 mpg).

A 2.5L engine is standard on the Colorado and it supports a 3,500-pound trailering rating, while delivering a segment-leading EPA-estimated 27 mpg on the highway (2WD models).

Along with genuine Chevy truck capability, the all-new Colorado delivers distinctive design cues and a quiet, comfortable interior that offers amenities that car and crossover drivers appreciate. It also features innovative technology such as Chevy MyLink with a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert.

Traditional truck features such as four-wheel drive and a highly flexible bed with Chevy's GearOn™ cargo management system are available, enhancing capability. The GearOn™ system is designed to fit within the bed, for significant storage and hauling flexibility. It is upgradable, with modular cargo dividers and tiered storage to accommodate 4-by8 sheets of plywood above the wheelhouses. It also uses the box's four permanent and 13 moveable tie-down provisions to allow for a variety of secure and convenient cargo stowage options.

The Colorado has a short turning radius of 41.3 feet (12.6 meters), enabling easier turning in tight areas such as city streets or when backing a trailer. Additional features include:

Four-wheel disc brakes with Duralife™ brake rotors that offer up to double the service life, which can save money on maintenance.
Available G80 automatic locking rear differential delivers a traction advantage when needed and quieter, more comfortable driving when it's not
Standard CornerStep rear bumper design pioneered on the 2014 Silverado
Available EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate that uses an internal torsion bar to make raising the tailgate easier with one hand, and a damper for more-controlled lowering
Standard two-tier loading that allows a platform to effectively split the bed into upper and lower sections, making it easier to haul, store and conceal items
Thirteen standard tie-down locations throughout the bed for use with available, movable cargo tie-down rings
Available factory-installed spray-in bed liner
Available safety package includes segment-first Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning, using camera-based technology to warn driver of potential crash threats.
Colorado prices start at $20,995, including $875 dealer freight, for a four-door extended cab model with the 2.5L engine. Chevrolet supports Colorado owners with two years or 24,000 miles (whichever comes first) of scheduled maintenance.

Chevrolet Introduces 2015 Colorado Sport Concept
GearOn™ system highlights lifestyle accessories for new midsize truck
2014-09-25

DALLAS – With a pair of mountain bikes mounted and a weekend's worth of gear stowed, Chevrolet's Colorado Sport concept is ready for adventure. It was unveiled today at the State Fair of Texas, demonstrating the lifestyle-oriented versatility of Chevy's all-new midsize pickup.

"It's not just mountain bikes, but just about any passion you can name, from kayaking, fishing, dirt bikes and more," said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager. "It's a truck for those who need the versatility of a pickup to support their work and lifestyle interests, but don't need a full-size truck to do it."

The 2015 Colorado is available in extended- or crew-cab models, with a choice of a 2.5L four-cylinder or 3.6L V-6 engine. The Colorado's 2.5L is the segment's most efficient, with an EPA-estimated 27 mpg on the highway (2WD models), and the 3.6L V-6 is the most powerful, at 305 horsepower. It also boasts the segment's highest trailering rating – 7,000 pounds, when properly equipped.

The Colorado's interior is tailored to meet the needs and expectations of today's midsize truck customers. With a quiet cabin and interior designed for thoughtful functionality, the Colorado offers features common to cars and crossovers, including Chevy MyLink with a built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and segment-first applications of Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert.

At the back of the Colorado, proven Chevrolet truck features offer conveniences not found in competitors' vehicles, including an easy lift-and-lower tailgate and rear bumper assist steps, which eases cargo loading.

The Colorado also offers the innovative and adjustable GearOnTM Accessory System that allows customers to stow larger items such as bikes and kayaks above the bed, leaving room for smaller gear, such as coolers and tents, inside the bed. The GearOnTM System is at the heart of the Colorado Sport concept's package of lifestyle and personalization accessories. Additional accessories on the truck – all available from Chevy dealers – include:

Assist steps
Cargo rings
Splash guards
Tiered storage
Bike rack
Cargo divider
